The Ride Of Your Life To Raise Funds Supporting Our Wounded American Heroes

Operation Second Chance

Helping Heroes Move On

We are patriotic citizens committed to serving our wounded, injured and ill combat veterans. We support Veterans and their families by building relationships and identifying and supporting immediate needs and interests. We are dedicated to promoting public awareness of the many sacrifices made by our Armed Forces.

Ride Allegheny offers an opportunity for you to join a cause greater than yourself, an opportunity to support the wounded Soldiers, Sailors and Marines that have given their all so we can live free. Our military is engaged all over the world today, supporting U.S. interests. Those injured physically and emotionally in these ongoing conflicts will bear the burden years after their return, and many for life. The physical and emotional injuries (Post Traumatic Stress) are conditions that require long term rehabilitation that goes well beyond the treatment available from the Department of Veterans Affairs and the military medical system. This is why non-profits are so crucial in their support role, to fill the shortfall in treatment our veterans face.

After four years of riding without a cause, Ride Allegheny partnered with Operation Second Chance and began fundraising in 2005 – the same year Cindy McGrew founded OSC (501(c)3 status effective March 16, 2005).

OSC is an incredibly lean operation with ratios (overhead expenses / dollars donated) that few, if any, other non-profits meet. The key to OSC’s effectiveness is driven by the selfless commitment of its leader, Cindy, the volunteerism she inspires amongst groups like Ride Allegheny, and the generous donations from all of us who believe so deeply in the Cause.

Our goal, like that of OSC, is to support wounded veterans at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center as they receive treatment, and to assist them when they transition either back to active duty or civilian life.

We would like to dedicate this site to all military personnel – men and women who have served our country – past, present and future. Thank you for your service.
